Hanfa awards top three student scientific and expert papers in 2023
At today’s celebration held in Zagreb, awards were presented to students whose expert and scientific papers were selected as the most successful within the framework of the call launched by Hanfa in January 2023. The papers, covering the area of economics, were reviewed by the Committee, that chose the top three, and awarded their authors with both symbolic and financial prizes totalling EUR 650, 1,300 and 2,000.
On the basis of a unanimous proposal of the Committee, the Hanfa Board adopted a decision to grant the Hanfa Annual Award for students for the best scientific and expert papers in 2023 to the following authors:
- The 1st prize was awarded to Pejo Bosnić (EUR 2,000), a student of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek, for the paper “Pan-European personal pension savings as a new form of voluntary pension insurance”;
- The 2nd prize was awarded to Luka Orešković, a student of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, for the paper „Decentralized finance: a threat or a catalyst for the development of financial services?“;
- The 3rd prize was awarded to Luka Medvidović and Ivan David Dogan, students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management, for the paper „The dual-edged sword of digitization: An overview of cybersecurity challenges and opportunities“.
Ante Žigman, President of the Hanfa Board, congratulated the students: “By presenting this already traditional award we want to send a message to all students that their ideas and knowledge are particularly appreciated at Hanfa. In spite of all challenges, investing in the future through learning and effort pays most”, said Mr. Žigman, adding that this year the number of student papers received has doubled. “The response from students this year has shown that financial knowledge may no longer be part of the narrow circle of the economic scientific community, proving that producing new, sustainable and innovative solutions requires synergy between various areas, but also different generations.”
Loredana Maravić, Head of the Sector for the Development of Higher Education at the Ministry of Science and Education, also greeted all the attendees and congratulated the students for their success. Her congratulations were followed by those of representatives of the awarded students’ faculties, namely Prof. Boris Crnković, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, Prof. Ivan Koprić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb, Prof. Bojan Trkulja, PhD, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb and Goran Oblaković, PhD, Vice Dean of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management.
