International Monetary Fund delegation visits Hanfa

A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) visited the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa) as part of the IMF’s regular mission to the Republic of Croatia. During these missions, IMF representatives gather information and exchange views with relevant national institutions on economic and financial developments, as well as on the prospects for the further development of the financial system.

Hanfa's representatives at the meeting included Anamarija Staničić, Deputy President of the Board, Board members Martina Verić and Antun Palarić, and colleagues from the Systemic Risks and Statistics Division and the Department for Supervision of Investment and Crypto-Asset Service Providers. The IMF delegation consisted of Yan Sun, Assistant Director of the European Department, Troy Matheson, Senior Economist in the European Department, Mariarosaria Comunale, Mission Member responsible for the real sector, and Bingjie Hu, Mission Member responsible for the real and financial sectors. In addition to representatives of Hanfa and the IMF, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Croatian National Bank and the Ministry of Finance.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on current economic and financial developments, as well as trends in the real and financial sectors that may affect financial stability and the future development of the financial system. Particular attention was paid to assessing risks and challenges in both the domestic and international environment, as well as to factors shaping economic expectations in the coming period.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy President of the Board Anamarija Staničić said: “Regular dialogue with the International Monetary Fund is important because it enables the exchange of expert insights on economic and financial trends and allows domestic experiences to be compared with international practices. With financial markets undergoing rapid transformation amid heightened uncertainty, early recognition of potential vulnerabilities and development opportunities is key to supporting further development of the financial system. Meetings such as these contribute to a better understanding of the factors influencing financial stability and highlight the importance of cooperation between national and international institutions in strengthening the resilience of the financial system.”

Meetings of this kind strengthen interinstitutional cooperation and contribute to a better understanding of market developments, economic challenges, and potential risks relevant to maintaining financial stability.
