Ante Žigman relieved of duties as President of Hanfa Board at his own request ahead of appointment as Governor of the Croatian National Bank
Upon the proposal of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian Parliament has relieved Mr Ante Žigman, PhD, of his duties as President of the Board of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa). The decision follows his personal request, submitted in light of his appointment as Governor of the Croatian National Bank.
Ante Žigman served as President of Hanfa Board for more than eight years. On two occasions, the Government of the Republic of Croatia nominated him for the position, with the Croatian Parliament confirming both appointments. His first term ran from February 2018 to February 2024, and his second from February 2024 to June 2026.
During his tenure, Ante Žigman made a significant contribution to Hanfa’s development and to strengthening its regulatory and supervisory role within the Croatian financial market. His mandate was marked by the continued enhancement of institutional capacities, improvements to the regulatory framework, close cooperation with domestic and international institutions, and active participation in European and global regulatory processes. Over the course of his two terms, the Board held 357 sessions and adopted a total of 7,642 decisions.
Hanfa extends its sincere gratitude to Ante Žigman for his professional and dedicated service, as well as for the constructive cooperation achieved with employees, representatives of the financial market, domestic and international institutions, and other stakeholders essential to the stability and development of Croatia’s financial system.
Until a new President is appointed, Hanfa Board will continue its work in its current composition, comprising Deputy President Anamarija Staničić and Board Members Jurica Jednačak, Antun Palarić and Martina Verić.
Should the relevant authorities adopt decisions concerning changes to the composition of the Board, Hanfa will inform the public in a timely manner via its official communication channels.
About Hanfa Board
Hanfa Board consists of five members, including a President and a Deputy President. The President and the members of the Board are appointed and dismissed by the Croatian Parliament at the proposal of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The Deputy President is elected by the Board from among its members.
At its meetings, the Board issues decisions falling within Hanfa’s scope of activity and competence. A quorum of three members is required for decision-making, and each session must be attended by the President or, in their absence, the Deputy President.
In February 2024, the Croatian Parliament reappointed Jurica Jednačak and Antun Palarić as Hanfa Board Members for a second term, and appointed Anamarija Staničić for her first term. Martina Verić was appointed as a Board Member in July 2025, also for her first term. Anamarija Staničić has served as Deputy President since July 2025.
