OECD Corporate Governance Factbook includes Croatia for the first time
This year's edition of the OECD Corporate Governance Factbook includes data on corporate governance in Croatia for the first time. This publication lists trends and the latest data on corporate governance in 52 countries around the world.
The inclusion of Croatia in this report is a great recognition of the efforts made by Croatian institutions and Hanfa in recent years to improve the quality of corporate governance and to comply with the highest international standards.
The report shows that corporate governance practices are increasingly being followed and that as many as 73 percent of the countries covered compile a national report on compliance with the recommendations of the corporate governance code. In 90 percent of countries, the disclosure of information related to sustainability is required, and 60 percent require confirmation of this information.
This year's report showed that gender diversity on boards is also improving. Women occupy an average of 29 percent of seats on boards, which is seven percentage points more than in 2022. However, the progress of women in the leading positions of board presidents is somewhat slower (10 percent of large public companies).
Digitalisation is an important trend that also affects the way general meetings are held – virtual meetings are now allowed in 85 percent of jurisdictions, and hybrid ones in 94 percent.
The latest amendments to the Corporate Governance Code have implemented the G20/OECD Principles on Corporate Governance in Croatia, and the reporting on the implementation of the new recommendations will start this year.
