Hanfa awards new student scholarships
Six students signed scholarship agreements at a ceremony held on 12 September 2025 at the premises of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa): Luka Jovanović, Zita Matijašec, Elizabeta Plosnić, Pavla Ribić, Laura Zelić and Fran Žmegač.
They are students from the Faculty of Law in Split, Rijeka and Zagreb, the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb and the Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies of the University of Rijeka. The candidates were selected on the basis of a scholarship competition and a selection procedure.
In his welcome speech, Hanfa Board member Antun Palarić stressed the importance of supporting young people and the role of Hanfa, which is committed to this goal, not only through this scholarship project, but also through other activities such as the Annual Student Award and cooperation with schools and faculties. He also highlighted the importance of encouraging the best students in their student and business activities.
Vesna Kadić, Hanfa’s Secretary General, pointed out: “With this scholarship project, we primarily aim to facilitate young people’s studies, but also to increase the attractiveness of Hanfa as an employer. All the students receiving our scholarship have the opportunity to get acquainted with Hanfa’s business operations and responsibilities during the three-week internship they complete before graduation. They also participate in activities we organise during this period, after which they may remain working for Hanfa. Recruitment of young professionals brings mutual benefits: Young people are given the opportunity to gain relevant work experience, while they make a valuable contribution to Hanfa’s teams through their responsible work, knowledge and new ideas.”
The scholarship programme started in 2019 with the aim of supporting the best students and attracting the highest quality people from the labour market. A total of 18 scholarships have been awarded through this Hanfa programme, which is open to students across Croatia.
The students will be receiving EUR 600 net on a monthly basis, from the beginning of the academic year 2025/2026 until the end of their studies. Provided that at the time of their graduation Hanfa is seeking to recruit and that the scholarship holders have fulfilled all their obligations under the scholarship agreement, Hanfa may offer them employment.
Hanfa intends to continue awarding scholarships to students in the fields of economics, law, mathematics and information technology. The competitions will be announced depending on the completion of studies by the current scholarship holders or on available resources.
