Hanfa marks World Savings Day

In order to raise awareness of the importance of savings and financial stability, on the occasion of World Savings Day, Hanfa participated in and organised a series of activities aimed at educating citizens on responsible management of personal finances. The aim of these initiatives is to empower citizens to ensure a safer and more stable financial future through savings and financial discipline.

Deputy President of Hanfa Board Tomislav Ridzak participated in a roundtable on the occasion of World Savings Day, which was held on 30 October at the Croatian Chamber of Economy. The roundtable discussed current trends and expectations regarding various forms of savings and investments. Special emphasis was placed on savings, investments, changes in the saving habits of Croatian citizens, the application of new technologies, sustainable financing, deposit insurance, and the importance of long-term savings and financial literacy for a safer future of the individual and society as a whole.

In his presentation, Tomislav Ridzak pointed out that financial awareness and discipline in personal finance management are key to a stable future. He also emphasised the importance of developing a personal savings strategy that will ensure long-term financial stability, especially given that a number of services necessary for life are increasingly financed from private sources, along with public ones. At the same time, financial products and their distribution need to be adapted to the needs of citizens, to make them more mobile and convenient to use, and ultimately cheaper in order to increase citizens' trust in the financial system through adequate value for money, and thus improve their financial behaviour.

Hanfa's representatives held an online presentation on financial literacy and budgeting for pupils of the primary school “Osnovna škola Tomaša Goričanca Mala Subotica”. At the end of the presentation, the pupils competed in the Kahoot quiz. The school will also get a board game called Desitudo, which will allow pupils to continue developing their knowledge of finance and responsible money management through fun activities.

A financial literacy workshop was held at the primary school “Osnovna škola Gornje Vrapče”, where pupils expanded their understanding of basic financial concepts and skills through the board game Desitudo. The secondary school “Treća ekonomska škola” hosted a workshop dedicated to creating a personal budget, where pupils made their own budgets and explored potential items for savings. These workshops encouraged pupils to think about responsible money management and the importance of financial planning in everyday life.

As the final part of marking the World Savings Day, Hanfa played host to pupils from the secondary school “Srednja strukovna škola Varaždin”, who participated in educational presentations on the capital market and investment. In addition to theoretical knowledge, pupils were given the opportunity to apply their skills through MarketWatch simulation – an interactive investment game that they will be able to test over the next two weeks. After completing the simulation, pupils will present the results and strategies to their school, which will further contribute to the understanding of financial markets and the importance of informed investment decisions.
